“Economic development is not only to be enjoyed in the present, but also must be felt in the long term. Development must be sustainable. One of the buffers for sustainable development is the availability of infrastructure,” said President Jokowi.
Going forward, the Government promises to continue to boost the development of physical infrastructure massively and evenly in all corners of the country which includes the electricity subsector, mainly based on Renewable Energy (EBT).
“Electricity projects with EBT sources, such as the Bayu Sidrap Power Plant in South Sulawesi, we will continue to work in all corners of the country to meet the electricity needs of the community and increase electrification,” he added.
The electrification ratio itself has reached 97.13% nationally. This figure is a contribution from the National Electricity Company (PLN) 94.65%, Non-PLN 2.36% and Energy-Saving Solar Energy Lamps (LTSHE) of 0.12%. At the end of 2019, the Government targets 99.9% of Indonesia’s territory to be electrified.
To achieve this, one of the Government’s efforts through the ESDM Ministry is to accelerate the 35,000 Mega Watt (MW) program. Stasus June 2018, as many as 2,278 MW have been operating or around 6 percent, 16,523 MW or 47% during construction, contracts / PPA have not been constructed at 13,481 MW (38%), stage of procurement of 2,130 MW (6%) and planning 1,007 MW (3 %).
